Update - August 2007
Plans
for our upcoming Wolverhampton gig in November are progressing well. There's
a really strong line - which is now confirmed as:
CockSParrer,
Slaughter
and the Dogs; UK Subs; Deadline; Goldblade and Demob.
BUT
what you may not know is that we are using this event to Launch a completely
new studio album (our first one for over 10 years).
The
album is called "HERE WE STAND" and it may well be the best thing
that we have ever done.....
See
you in Wolverhampton for a great party night......

out: tickets@rebellionfestivals.com or www.wolvescivic.co.uk for details/tickets.

We are
very happy to confirm that COCK SPARRER will do a one off EXCLUSIVE show this

the middle of the UK so it is easy to get to. Not a festival - it's a SParrer

Just a
short message, but it means so much to us and hopefully to you guys - I'll give

onto this site and might have been concerned not to see a message from the band
confirming the e-mail that was just sent out by Darren and Jennie.

off they deserve.
More information

News Update September
2005
COCK SPARRER - WASTED USA STATEMENT - THURSDAY
15th SEPTEMBER 2005
Cock
SParrer regret to announce that we have been told that the USA WASTED concert
(8th / 9th October 2005) has been cancelled.
We were
informed today that the festival had to be cancelled for reasons beyond our
control and therefore thought it best that we let you know what's going on.
It was
always our intention to play the show and have turned down other offers this
year as we promised the promoters that they would have 'our only worldwide show'
for 2005. We feel very badly let down but more importantly are disappointed
for all the people that have bought tickets, sorted hotels and arranged vacations
around this gig.
We have
worked with the promoters before - playing HOLIDAYS IN THE SUN / WASTED festivals
in the UK, GERMANY and SPAIN. We have always been treated well and impressed
with their organisation and therefore had no way of foreseeing this course of
events.
It
has been suggested that part of this problem has been caused by some bands demanding
their money up front. We would like to state for the record that COCK SPARRER
have NEVER, and never will ask, for any advance payment for any gig we do -
we know how difficult cash flow can be for promoters. Anybody who knows us,
or has worked with us will know this to be the case.
No doubt
a lot will be said about all this, there are obviously things that should have
been sorted out long before they got to this stage. We have been busy rehearsing
and looking forward to the show. At no stage have we put any pressure on the
promoters, financially or otherwise so we are shocked and disappointed by this
sad news.
All we
can tell you is that it is the decision of the promoters - not COCK SPARRER
to cancel this show.
There
are rumours of a rescue show but as we know 'rumours carry more weight than
facts'. - At this stage we can state that no one has approached us to play.
Therefore we can confirm that COCK SPARRER will not be coming to the USA in
October. Anyone saying differently will be just trying to con you into turning
up. If this changes at any stage we will post an update on www.cocksparrer.co.uk
We apologise
to everyone that was looking forward to seeing us. We can assure you that we
are gutted. Some of our family and friends have already bought their flight
tickets and booked hotels etc and they are non-refundable. So we have a lot
of very upset people close to home - so we really understand how you guys feel.
We have
already been talking to our friends at TKO Records as they managed to organise
our only successful trip to the US in 2000. Hopefully we can reschedule something
for next year. However, it's early days and the disappointment of this hasn't
really sunk in yet.
We just
wanted to let you know as soon as we found out for ourselves.
COCK SPARRER - Colin, Steve, Micky, Steve,
Daryl and Will.

Greetings - August 2004
Seems a long time between message updates, but better late
than never.
Sorry that we had to recreate the web-site. This is 'cos we lost the old one
- the service provider pulled the plug without telling us.
Big Ron has passed the mantle of "Web-master" onto me - Paul (the
other one) as, in theory, I have more time. We hope to get a message board soon
- but I am away for the next few months (don't ask where), so Micky has been
keeping the site ticking over.
Sadly, Sparrer are not playing any gigs this year, and there are no tours planned,
BUT as many of you seem to already know there is a good possibility that the
boys we will be playing a big concert in California next year - keeping my fingers
crossed. Not the UK I know, but it is the only offer on the table right now.
Sparrer have agreed to do the gig in principle but have not yet seen any contracts/details.
They were initially told that the gig would be in April, but just heard that
it is now planned for Sept (which is a bit more of a problem for reasons I won't
go into right now) - so they are trying to finalise a date with Darren Russell
(I'll let you know the outcome, just as soon as I know). As I understand it,
the Gig itself is a big festival in San Bernadino, California with Sparrer headlining
one night and a big US band (yet to be named) headlining the other night.
Oh, by the way, in case you think you have been seeing things, Micky has been
guesting as the lead guitarist for the Crack to keep his fingers working, including
headlining the Thursday 15th July 2004 warm up gig for the four day WASTED festival
in Morecambe, UK, and by all reports it was a great gig (check out the link
to Punkoiuk for a write up).
The DVD of last years HITS concert in Morecambe is coming out soon (so no change
there then). However, I have just seen an early copy of the DVD and it looks
and sounds really good (far superior to the video) - although the band wishes
they hadn't all stayed up till 6am the night before and felt SO rough all day
(hence the sun-glasses being worn all day - they are being worn out of necessity
not 'cos the band think they look cool) ............. Keep an eye on this site
for news.
Till the next update,
Oi Oi,
Paul (the other one)
